Pittsburgh Pirates Family Fun Day At PNC Park

By Kelly Caruso June 17, 2025

I don’t think there is a better way to kick off the start of summer than by attending a Pittsburgh Pirates game! On Sundays, now until the end of August, the Pirates have Family Fun Day! We arrived about an hour early to enjoy a pre-game celebration on Federal Street. We were greeted with amazing music and so much free entertainment. There are a variety of different activities for kids of all ages! My kids loved getting a balloon animal, a tattoo, and practicing baseball! Of course, the Pirate Parrot and Pierogis were there for photo opportunities.

When we were ready to go into the game, the kids were so excited to receive a free baseball headband. On select Sundays, every child under 14 receives a gift!

While walking to our seats and seeing all the food stands, they of course suddenly became hungry! I love that on Sunday’s families can enjoy classic ballpark food with a variety of items for only $5. The kids enjoyed a hot dog, popcorn, a soft pretzel, and Cracker Jacks for the first time.

They made it about 2 innings before needing a little break, so we headed onto the first level, where there were so many activities to see and explore. They have a bounce bridge, a climber, and a playground. We ended the day with ice cream.

We had such a great time at the game. There is so much additional entertainment and activities to do along with watching the game! Sebastian was very excited to see a few fireworks after a home run. A good incentive for the kids making it to the end of the game is that they get to run the bases! My youngest fell asleep before we even left the parking lot. A sign of a successful fun day!
