This summer, families in Pittsburgh are discovering an adorable, wordless wonder: Milo the Mime.
Crafted by local cartoonist and animator Chas Chasler, Milo is a quirky, expressive, non-speaking character whose charm is impossible to ignore!
Who’s Behind Milo?

Chas Chasler is a talented cartoonist and animator based in Pittsburgh, Pa with a portfolio that includes character design, children’s book illustration, and even creating a mascot—Browser Mouse—for the Whitehall Library. Milo marks Chas’s first solo children’s book, and it’s already making hearts melt across the region!

Milo doesn’t speak—but that’s the point! Through expressive visuals and physical humor, he communicates in a way that's universally understood and hilariously heartwarming. The story’s core message? Celebrate what makes you unique. Milo learns that embracing his quirks doesn’t just help him fit in—it makes him shine. Think of it as the delightful, feel-good vibes of a classic 90s Cartoon show, now in book form.
From Sketch to Story: Milo’s Journey

Creating Milo: Chas dreamt up Milo with big expressive drawings and a vision of a quirky silent hero.
Refining the Fun: Collaborating with Isaac Fisher (of Incubator Productions), they polished the story, improved the illustrations, and even ran a beta-read to gather feedback.
Building Community: The team partnered up with Minnock Marketing, The Eli Labelle and Catalina Pagnotta Real Estate Team with Re/Max Select, and Mobile Cartoon Museum to help Milo reach young readers far and wide—starting right here in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Kickstarter Launch: (Launched July 25, 2025!) The team is selling pre-orders of the book, exclusive merchandise opportunity, and discounted launch party tickets all available on Kickstarter. Funds raised go directly into printing and production costs for the first 500 copies of the book to share with backers, schools, bookstores, book fairs, and local markets.
Launch Party: Mark your calendars! A lively event is planned in collaboration with the Labelle Pagnotta Real Estate Team for December 13th — this event will include readings, activities, and meet-and-greets—where the first signed copies will be handed out to backers and fans alike.
Books on Tour: After printing, Milo will hit the road—visiting libraries, bookstores, and community events for storytelling sessions and signings.
